WHAT IS UGC(UNIVERSITY GRANT COMMISSION)?
The University Grants Commission (UGC) is a government agency and it was established by an Act of Parliament in 1956. Mainly established for the coordination, determination, and maintenance of standards of university education.
Head office located at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in New Delhi and it has six Regional offices located in Bangalore, Bhopal, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune.
UGC basically started as University Grants Committee, which was established in 1945 on the recommendation of Sargeant Report. The purpose of constituting committee is to monitor the work of three Central Universities (Aligarh, Benaras, and Delhi )of the country.
Under the chairmanship of Dr. S Radhakrishnan In 1948, the University Education Commission was set up. The recommendation was to the reconstitution of the University Grants Committee on the basis of the University Grants Commission of the UK.
WHAT IS NET(NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST)?
NET(National Eligibility Test) being conducted by University Grants
Commission with the help of NTA(National Testing Agency). The NET exam was
conducted by UGC in December 1989 and again in March 1990 for both Lectureship
and Junior Research fellowship. For the long years, NET is conducted twice
a year. National Eligibility Test is the eligibility for lectureship,
JRF(Junior Research Fellowship) and for PSU Recruitment.
WHAT IS NTA(NATIONAL TESTING AGENCY)?
National Testing Agency(NTA) is a statutory body that has been approved
by Union Cabinet and established in November 2017 to conduct entrance exams for
higher educational institutions.
NTA conducts entrance exams like UGC NET(Lectureship/JRF/PSU
Recruitment), Engineering Entrance exam(JEE), Medical Entrance
Exam(NEET),Management Entrance exam(CMAT) and Pharmacy Entrance exam(GPAT).

JRF(Ph.D) and Lectureship:
Candidates who qualified in the above test are grouped into two separate
merit lists JRF List and NET List. Candidates who scored well and first merit
list will be awarded Junior Research Fellowship(JRF) and if chosen option for
NET(Lectureship) during application filling will be awarded for Lectureship
also. Those who are chosen NET while filling application and in the second
merit list would be awarded for Lectureship (NET).The same score is considered
for PSU exams also.

PSU Recruitment:
